RFG's Eliminator 4.0 week 16

The CBSSports.com Community is changing and several enhancements are on the way. As part of this change, the ability to create new blogs has been disabled. Your voices can still be heard by visiting our message boards.
This is still in effect, for those of you that follow the blog station, you can make picks here or follow the link here to post your picks:

es/chrono/37266028

Here is the same info from the initial thread, though this can't be edited:

O.K., so Hamlin did horrible, and as consequence, many people did awful. But of course, Dale Earnhardt Jr. finally won, and who took advantage, thanks to RFG autopicks (using the pick 3 game), and due to confusion of this stupid update CBS is still working on with blogs, I gave D2Moo the benifit of the doubt, he will get the winner, the bolded driver, and the handicap, that all adds up to 6 bonus points, and a winner, I know I'm just too kind. Anyways, lets see how the rest of us did:

PODIUM

1.) ILL55INI-             83 (The two picks that were exactly the same are the highest scoring... hmmmm...)

Bradman-                 83

3.) Berlyn-                77 (Is her luck FINALLY starting to turn around??)

NON-PODIUM 50 CLUB

4.) D2Moo-               69 (The engine failiure on Martin's part shut down the great win by junior.)

5.) Floridawhite-        62

6.) Tenacfan-           56

7.) Beardawg-           55 (For the first time in the eliminator league history (I think), somebody picked the last place driver.)

8.) Fsu1dogs-           54

9.) River Rat-           52

DANGER ZONE

10.) Sfrye-                 49

11.) Edwardsfan-         48

12.) Roushfenwayguy- 43

13.) Tigersman-         23 (Good news, things can only go up from here.... hopefully...)

Well, all in all, a pretty awful week we had here, only four scores cracking the 60 barrier, that's pretty bad. Buth with JGR bad luck, combined with Kasey and Martin, and you got your reason why this week was so low scoring. Also I forgot to take out Fog, it may explain why he didn't come to make picks, either that or the blog confusion, but the other two that didn't find the page got compensated and are in decent shape, so its all good hopefully for those two. Also we have two of our 3 save eligible players in the danger zone, including Tigersman, who is far behind the rest. Could we see the save rule come into effect the segment it became available? It's look very well possible, although I hope I don't become a casualty of Infineon.

The handicap lists are now revamped, and as such, I decided to edit Mark Martin's handicap based upon his average points scored, since he is the best part-time driver by far, his handicap is a bit rigged. Also I made handicaps for Infineon only, hopefully people will take some of these into consideration.

Winning Drivers List:

Tigersman-              4 (Once again claims sole possession of first here.)

Beardawg-               3

ILL55INI-                2

Tenacfan-                2

Roushfenwayguy-      2

Sfrye-                      2

Floridawhite-             2

D2Moo-                    2

Mikeyfan-                1

Berlyn-                    1

River Rat-                1

Fsu1dogs-                1

Bradman-                 1

Edwardsfan-              0 (Is now the only person in this game yet to pick a winner.)

(Mark Martin, by average, would currently be 14th in the standing were he race all races, so 15th is now 16th, etc.)

+2 Handicap: 16th-22nd

Joey Logano (new to handicap list)

Kasey Kahne

Marcos Ambrose (no handicap, Infineon only)

Jamie McMurray

Juan Pablo Montoya (no handicap, Infineon only)

Jeff Gordon (no handicap, Infineon only)

EFFECTIVE THIS WEEK

SEGMENT 2: Weeks 15-26(pre-chase): All players must have unique lineups every week in each session (REMEMBER that a session consists of two weeks, an odd week followed by an even week.) Here are some examples to clarify this:

EXAMPLE 1: Week 15: RFG chooses Jimmie Johnson and Carl Edwards

EXAMPLE 2: Week 16: RFG chooses Jimmie Johnson and Carl Edwards

Week 17: RFG chooses Jimmie Johnson and Greg Biffle

Week 18: RFG chooses Carl Edwards and Matt Kenseth = LEGAL PICKS

All in all, if its an EVEN numbered week, check your picks from the previous week, if it is an odd numbered week, then don't worry your head about a thing. Illegal picks will result in a -8 penalty, the maximum handicap, except subtracted. (Picking the exact same lineup will still result in -8, NOT -16.)

(Please copy/paste this list with your picks while we are in message board mode.)

Roushfenwayguy- Kyle Busch, Juan Pablo Montoya

D2Moo- Dale Earnhardt Jr., Mark Martin

Tigersman- Denny Hamlin, Kasey Kahne

RFG's Eliminator 4.0 week 15

This is mostly so that I can find this page incase I need it for future reference, but also so that the final four that haven't made picks yet can find the page because I didn't think that some people might have just hit the follow blog button or some whatever it is like that. Anyways, here is the link, please make sure to get your picks in on time, also if you get your picks in like a lap or two into the race, I probably won't care, its after some caution involving some big driver where I will start to care, or just past some early point only for those that have yet to make picks. Anyways, here is the link to the message board, or you can even post your picks right here and I will edit it on the message board.

RFG's Eliminator 4.0 week 14

Well, another day, another Jimmie Johnson win, and we had 5 people take advantage of that winner. The big crash also did not do too big of damage to our crew... well... those that chose Kyle, Tony or Carl will feel the pain, so lets see how consistent the group is this time:

PODIUM

1.) Sfrye-                 92 (Shares a tie with the highest possible scoring lineup.)

2.) Roushfenwayguy- 87

3.) Beardawg-           86

Floridawhite-             86

NON-PODIUM 75 CLUB

5.) D2Moo-               85

6.) Tigersman-          81

7.) Edwardsfan-         79

8.) Fsu1dogs-           77

ILL55INI-                  77 (A pretty good day for the top 2 RFR drivers right now.)

10.) Tenacfan-          75

DANGER ZONE

11.) River Rat-          62

12.) Bradman-          54

13.) Berlyn-              50 (Berlyn strikes bad luck... again... this time with Kyle Busch.)

Fogducker-               50 (Follows Berlyn's bad luck train.)

Well, the distance from 1st to 10th is 17, while the distance from 1st to 13th is 42... that's a large gap, so it seems like the bottom four will likely fight for elimination, so Pocono is going to be a huge race for the premere of NASCAR on TNT for those in that danger zone.

Winning Drivers List:

Tigersman-              3 (Takes sole posession of the top spot with Section leaving this game.)

Beardawg-               3 (Tigers and Bears with 3 wins, where are the lions?)

ILL55INI-                2

Tenacfan-                2

Roushfenwayguy-      2

Sfrye-                      2

Floridawhite-             2

Mikeyfan-                1

Berlyn-                    1

River Rat-                1

Fsu1dogs-                1

Bradman-                 1

D2Moo-                    1
Edwardsfan-              0 (Is now the only person in this game yet to pick a winner.)

+2 Handicap: 16th-22nd

Jamie McMurray

Juan Pablo Montoya

Jeff Burton (new to handicap list)

Kasey Kahne (+4 handicap to +2 handicap)

A.J. Allmendinger (+4 handicap to +2 handicap)

Marcos Ambrose (+4 handicap to +2 handicap)

Aric Almirola

+4 Handicap: 23rd- 29th

Jeff Gordon (Chaser last year... bargain hunters look here)

Mark Martin (+2 to +4 handicap)

Kurt Busch (Chaser last year)

Bobby LaBonte (+2 to +4 handicap)

Regan Smith (+2 to +4 handicap)

Casey Mears

David Ragan (+6 to +4 handicap)

+6 Handicap: 30th- 35th

David Gilliland

David Reutimann (the three Davids are still right next to eachother in the standings.)

Travis Kvapil

Dave Blaney (+4 to +6 handicap)

Landon Cassill

David Stremme (+8 to +6 handicap)

+8 handicap: Anyone Below 35th

EFFECTIVE NEXT WEEK

SEGMENT 2: Weeks 15-26(pre-chase): All players must have unique lineups every week in each session (REMEMBER that a session consists of two weeks, an odd week followed by an even week.) Here are some examples to clarify this:

EXAMPLE 1: Week 15: RFG chooses Jimmie Johnson and Carl Edwards

Week 16: RFG chooses Matt Kenseth and Carl Edwards = ILLEGAL PICKS

So for this race, I'll stay away from Johnson and go with Smoke to bounce back at one of his best tracks. I'll also go with Denny Hamlin, as he is the leader in laps lead the last 5 years here... and 2 wins to boot with that... and he's doing good this season...

Roushfenwayguy- Denny Hamlin, Tony Stewart

D2Moo- Denny Hamlin, Greg Biffle

Tigersman-

Beardawg- Denny Hamlin, Kasey Kahne

Berlyn-

Fsu1dogs- Tony Stewart, Marcos Ambrose (+2 handicap)

River Rat- Kyle Busch, Jimmie Johnson

Floridawhite-

Sfrye- Denny Hamlin, Jeff Gordon (+4 handicap)

Tenacfan- Tony Stewart, Kyle Busch

Edwardsfan- Mark Martin (+4 handicap), Denny Hamlin

Common Picks:

Denny Hamlin-  6

Jeff Gordon-      2

Tony Stewart-    2

Kyle Busch-       2

RFG's Eliminator 4.0 week 13

Well, Jimmie Johnson fell short of being the superstar at Lowe's due to some issues, and apart from a pretty boring Lowe's, Kasey Kahne stood out as the driver that is making one heck of a comeback. We also had 5 people that chose Kahne in thier lineups, so we should get a few more winners. But lets see what everyone is really concerned about... that is who got eliminated:

1.) Fsu1dogs-           168 (77) (+1) (Reclaims the top dog poisition thanks to the mediocre performance of ILL55.)

2.) Beardawg-           164 (84) (+1)

3.) Tigersman-          161 (82) (+1)

4.) ILL55INI-             160 (67) (-3) (Falls out of the podium after a week with two perfect picks.)

5.) Roushfenwayguy- 154 (82) (+5) (The two most common picks did fine thanks to Kasey Kahne controlling part 2 over the Biff.)

6.) River Rat-            151 (78) (+3)

7.) D2Moo-               150 (72) (-2)

8.) Sfrye-                 146 (70) (-2)

9.) Berlyn-                144 (71) (-1)

10.) Edwardsfan-        142 (68) (-3)

11.) Bradman-           139 (82) (+1)

12.) Floridawhite-       133 (75) (-1)

13.) Fogducker-         125 (69) (+1)

14.) Tenacfan-          122 (68) (+1) (Oh how a winner can keep you away from elimination.)

15.) Section-             113 (57) (+1) (Joey Logano did not cut Section a break, and sends the person with the most winning drivers chosen packing.)

So Section loses that high standing in this game with his most winning drivers chosen thanks to Denny Hamlin, but he couldn't avoid the trouble of many other drivers, such as Jeff Gordon, which ultimately brought his downfall. We now have only 14 contestants, and we only have one more segment of running in this currect stature, so lets go over the rules for the next segment.

SEGMENT 2: Weeks 15-26(pre-chase): All players must have unique lineups every week in each session (REMEMBER that a session consists of two weeks, an odd week followed by an even week.) Here are some examples to clarify this:

RFG's Eliminator 4.0 week 12

Sorry for getting this up a bit late, after the week off, but we still have until Sunday night. Anyways, Johnson won, and he won the all-star race... I wonder where all the picks will go this week... anyways, lets see how the long awaited standings turned out from this last week:

PODIUM

1.) ILL55INI-            93 (Comes in first place this week with the best possible, 1-2 lineup.)

2.) Fsu1dogs-           91 (Is the number 1 dog after picking the past 2 Cup champions.)

3.) Beardawg-           80 (Climbs up to the 80 point mark thanks to that +3 bonus.)

70 CLUB

4.) Tigersman-          79

5.) D2Moo-               78

6.) Sfrye-                  76

7.) Edwardsfan-         74

8.) Berlyn-                73

9.) River Rat-            73

10.) Roushfenwayguy- 72

DANGER ZONE

11.)  Floridawhite-        58

12.) Bradman-             57

13.) Section-               56 (Guess what Jeff Gordon did? If you guess that he screwed you over AGAIN, you would be right.)

14.) Fog-                    56 (Allmendinger ,Gordon, its hard to find good sleepers... I can't believe Gordon is a sleeper now.)

15.) Tenacfan-            54 (Don't worry, at least you have Section for company with that Gordon pick...)

So two people picked the winner, and although many had Hamlin that wasn't too far off Johnson's mark, the distance from the first two down is great than the distance from 3rd to 10th... some close knit competition. And even on the low spectrum all 4 are within 3 points of eachother. We could have a very interesting Lowe's race... on a race where people crash... a lot... safe drivers maybe a good investment for those struggling to hang on right now.

Winning Drivers List:

Section-                  3 (He has more people coming closer to him, but he might want to focus on staying alive in this game.)

Tigersman-             2

ILL55INI-                2 (Joins Tigersman with one of the 3 to pick multiple winning drivers.)

Tenacfan-               1

Mikeyfan-                1

Floridawhite-            1

Beardawg-               1

Berlyn-                    1

River Rat-                1

Sfrye-                      1

Fsu1dogs-                1

Everyone else-          0

+2 Handicap: 16th-22nd

Jamie McMurray

Juan Pablo Montoya

Jeff Burton (new to handicap list)

Kasey Kahne (+4 handicap to +2 handicap)

A.J. Allmendinger (+4 handicap to +2 handicap)

Marcos Ambrose (+4 handicap to +2 handicap)

Aric Almirola

+4 Handicap: 23rd- 29th

Jeff Gordon (Chaser last year... bargain hunters look here)

Mark Martin (+2 to +4 handicap)

Kurt Busch (Chaser last year)

Bobby LaBonte (+2 to +4 handicap)

Dave Blaney (+4 to +6 handicap)

Landon Cassill

David Stremme (+8 to +6 handicap)

So... Jimmie Johnson, Kasey Kahne with a +2... ya I don't think you would pick much differently either.

D2Moo- Dale Earnhardt Jr., Martin Truex Jr.

Tigersman- Jimmie Johnson, Kasey Kahne (+2 handicap)

Beardawg- Kasey Kahne (+2 handicap), Jimmie Johnson

RFG's Eliminator 4.0 week 11

Well, another win Brad Keselowski, and another no pick for everyone here. But Talladega took its toll on Harvick and Gordon owners which were common in this race, so we will probably have some pretty low scores... oh well, lets see who was eliminated:

PODIUM

1.) Beardawg-           169 (80) (+1) (The newcomer makes a mark with 2 top 10 drivers, rare for Talladega...and a +8 on Bayne.)

2.) Sfrye-                 159 (72) (+2) (I gave you Waltrip (+8 handicap) instead of Martin, please make sure Mark is racing next time.)

3.) Section-              138 (47) (-2)

NON-PODIUM 120 CLUB

4.) D2Moo-               134 (56) (+3)

5.) Roushfenwayguy- 125 (58) (+5)

ILL55INI-                  125 (58) (+4)

7.) Fsu1dogs-           123 (41) (-1)

8.) Tenacfan-            122 (38) (-3)

110 CLUB

9.) Tigersman-            119 (30) (-6) (Hope the fall didn't hurt too much.)

10.) Berlyn-                 116 (54) (+2) (Well, at least only one of your drivers is having bad luck now...)

11.) Bradman-             115 (58) (+2)

12.) Edwardsfan-          114 (51) (-1)

13.) River Rat-             113 (38) (-5)

14.) Floridawhite-         112 (61) (0) (A great pick in Kahne, not so much for Jeff.)

SPARED

15.) Fogducker-            98 (58) (+1) (Barelyn spared by Foreplus's bad week.)

ELIMINATED

16.) Foreplus-              96 (49) (-1) (Another bad race for Jeff Gordon is another bad week for Foreplus.)

The first discrepency I want to talk about is the 55 car. Although Mark Martin may have a certain handicap, anyone that rides in that car (Waltrip and Vickers) will have a +8 handicap. The handicap go by a driver's point standings, not a car owner's standing, and replacement will count as completely seperate drivers. That also leaves me to say that make sure your driver is racing, I spared Sfrye this time, but next time I may use whoever is in that car w/o a handicap, or even a random autopick.

And Talladega strikes again, with 3 30 scores, and plently of 40 scores to go around, Jeff Gordon, Kevin Harvick, and a few other drivers ruined a lot of people's lineups, switching the standings drastically. But the bottom two is what is the main focus, as Foreplus and Fogducker swapped positions by that much, showing how much picking that bold driver correctly is worse. And if you want to blame Jeff Gordon's bad luck on Berlyn, then you can say that Berlyn knocked out the last female in this game besides herself... which isn't very good news if people are hoping for Berlyn to keep the women's dreams alive the way her year is going. And congratulations to our newcomer, who was the only person to pick two drivers that finished in the top 10, and he was in the podium last week, leaving Beardawg the winner of this session and 3 bonus points for the next.

Handicaps are now revamped up to week 15, and yes Jeff Gordon is still in that handicap list. Will people start taking precaution to picking Jeff Gordon now? Or will we see much more Jeff Gordon picks.

Winning Drivers List:

Section-                  3 (Adds yet another win, looks like Section is gearing up for a Chase run.)

Tigersman-             2 (Breaks away from the pack, but needs another winner to get to Section.)

ILL55INI-                1

Tenacfan-               1

Mikeyfan-                1

Floridawhite-            1

Beardawg-               1

Berlyn-                    1

Aric Almirola

+4 Handicap: 23rd- 29th

Jeff Gordon (Chaser last year... bargain hunters look here)

RFG's Eliminator 4.0 week 10

Woh, we had 6 people pick the winner, I mean given it was Kyle Busch so that's not a big surprise, but still lots of people will add to that win column. The most surprising fact is that three people that have been perfect in attendance to this point all missed picks. Foreplus made picks in the Pick 3 so I gave her RFG autopicks, as for the other two, they got randoms, and while Brad got lucky, Fog will need to work to stay alive. So lets see who will join Fog at the basement:

TOP LINEUP: Kyle Busch, Kasey Kahne (+4 handicap)- 92

PODIUM

Section-             91 (One point away from that perfect lineup, a far cry from last session's disaster.)

Beardawg-          89 (Had the one-two punch, but not in the right order.)

Tigersman-         89 (They were in the commonwealth for a reason.)

NON-PODIUM 75 CLUB

Sfrye-                 87

Tenacfan-           84

Fsu1dogs-           82

D2Moo-               78

River Rat-            75

60 CLUB

ILL55INI-            69 (+3 bonus)

Roushfenwayguy- 67

Edwardsfan-         63

Berlyn-                62 (Berlyn actually made a good pick in Kyle Busch, but then Burton had his say.)

DANGER ZONE

Bradman-            59

Floridawhite-         51

Foreplus-              47

Fogducker-           40 (Likely needs to make picks next week in order to stay alive, and good ones.)

Winning Drivers List:

Section-                  3 (Adds yet another win, looks like Section is gearing up for a Chase run.)

Tigersman-             2 (Breaks away from the pack, but needs another winner to get to Section.)

ILL55INI-                1

Tenacfan-               1

Floridawhite-            1

I know most people are probably going on the Johnson bandwagon, but actually in the past 5 spring Talladegas, his last one, a first, was his only one in the top 20. So I'm going the safe route with the guys that consistently avoid DNFs, which is Kevin Harvick and Clint Bowyer.

Tigersman- Jimmie Johnson, Kevin Harvick

Beardawg- Dale Earnhardt Jr., Trevor Bayne (+8 handicap)

Fsu1dogs- Kevin Harvick, Tony Stewart

River Rat- Kevin Harvick, Jeff Gordon (+4 handicap)

Floridawhite- Jeff Gordon (+4 handicap), Kasey Kahne (+4 handicap)
